A3M announces the creation ofA3M-Lab, his new think tank dedicated to the challenges of the mining, minerals and metals industry.

Hosted by Sophie Lebouil, Maxime Lazard and Bruno JacqueminA3M-Lab aims to produce analyses, contribute to public debate and formulate proposals on the major industrial challenges facing France and Europe.

For many years, A3M has represented the stakeholders in France involved in mining, metallurgy, steelmaking, and metal recycling. Beyond this representational role, the federation is increasingly called upon to address issues that extend beyond the metals sector alone: ​​reindustrialization, decarbonization, industrial sovereignty, the circular economy, project financing, strategic value chains, and securing supplies.

This evolution reflects a reality: ores, minerals and metals are now at the heart of the energy and digital transitions, but also of the challenges of competitiveness, defense, land development and economic resilience.

• A3M-Lab was born from this conviction: manufacturers have unique expertise, derived from field experience, which can usefully contribute to collective thinking and the development of public policies.

The think tank has already launched two initial projects:

• the strategic role of metal refining in European value chains;
• the bankability of industrial projects related to strategic metals and the ecological transition (document accessible here).

This initial work marks the beginning of an approach that is expected to expand to many other subjects.

True to its commitment to openness, A3M-Lab intends to develop a regular dialogue with businesses, government agencies, elected officials, researchers, universities, think tanks, and all organizations interested in the industrial future of France and Europe. The exchange of viewpoints is essential for generating robust and actionable proposals.

A3M-Lab's next publications and recommendations will be presented during the second half of 2026 in order to contribute to the next major French deadlines in terms of industrial policy.
