France, and more broadly Europe, is rich inleading industrial players : products, skills, know-how. It is a treasure trove of jobs widely dispersed across the territory, a source of indirect employment and social connection. It is a source of wealth creation that also helps to finance our social model.
In one internationalized world in which many players aim for economic superiority, extra-European competition uses all possible instruments, including unfair ones, to weaken European players. The European Union, which aims to be exemplary in terms of social and environmental rules and decarbonization targets, makes companies bear the resulting costs, while the vast majority of competitors are not subject to the same requirements.Similarly, being energy-poor, the EU is at a disadvantage compared to players whose energy costs are significantly lower. Finally, at the same time, the European internal market remains the most open to imports.
Often complex products involve long and opaque value chains. If even one link in these chains weakens, businesses and hundreds or thousands of jobs can be threatened.
It is within this context that A3M is putting forward its proposal in favor of significant European content, extending all the way upstream in the value chains..
Reindustrialization is useful and necessary; European content is one of the keys. The EU cannot be just a consumer market; it must also be a space for producers.
