La Federation of Mining Operators of Guyana (FEDOMG) is the professional organization representing actors in legal mining in French GuianaIts mission is to:
- defend the interests of the sector with the public authorities,
- contribute to the development of sectoral policies and
- promote a regulated, responsible and sustainable mining activity.
A recognized interlocutor of local, national and European institutions, FEDOMG is part of a approach to consultation, structuring and strategic development of the Guyanese mining sector.
As a voice for legal mining operators, defending their interests with local and national authorities, it is particularly involved in:
• The fight against illegal gold mining, which causes environmental and security problems.
• The participation in debates on mining regulations and natural resource management.
• The representation of mining operators in consultative bodies.
Composed of 90% of member operators practicing alluvial mining, it also includes companies engaged in primary gold mining.
