Celsa France is one of the 6 business units of Celsa.

It has a electric furnace steel mill specializing in the production of steel billets from the recovery of scrap metal, it is also the Celsa Atlantic's main billet supplier, which has two rolling mills dedicated to the production of wire rod and corrugated sheet metal.

The group has set itself the goal of reducing its CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030, achieving 98% circularity by 2030, completing its circularity and becoming a Net Positive company by 2050.

The Boucau site produces up to 550.000 tons of steel billets per year, of which 300.000 tons are rolled on site and approximately 200.000 tons on the Laracha site.

A small part of the production is also sent to customers in the Spanish Basque Country for applications such as elevator rails, hinges for the automotive industry, light rails for construction, flanges for the oil industry.

The Celsa France electric steelworks is located on the quayside, on the right bank of the Adour, in the municipalities of Boucau and Tarnos. This steelworks has been producing since 1996, from scrap metal waste, steel billets. In order to expand its activities, Celsa France has established a hot rolling mill for wire rods on its land in the port area. The rolling mill thus complements the existing steelworks to form a unique steelmaking complex.

It represents a significant boost to the region's economic dynamism while strengthening Celsa's position. It is now one of the leading companies in the French Basque Country and represents 45 % of traffic in the port of Bayonne

The billets are produced from recycled scrap metal melted in an electric arc furnace with a capacity of 150 t. They then pass through a secondary metallurgy furnace where the liquid steel is resolidified in continuous casting in the form of billets.

The steel billets are then introduced into a reheating furnace where they are then rolled into wire coils. 32 5 mm in diameter.
